About Us
Practice Sales | Buyer Agency | Practice Appraisals | Consultation
Since 1977, Simmons & Associates has been a trusted business advisor and broker to thousands of veterinarians buying and selling practices. We specialize exclusively in veterinary practice sales, valuations and negotiations.
Veterinarians spend many years building strong relationships with staff and clients, and most are on a “first-name” basis. It’s important that the owner who takes over a practice continues the tradition. Our goal is to make the right fit whether you are buying or selling your practice. Simmons can help with:
- Buying/Financing a practice
- Contracts/Negotiations
- Buyer or Seller representation
There are many benefits when working with Simmons:
Leadership and Experience
If you’re checking resumes, Simmons is the oldest and most experienced veterinary brokerage and appraisal firm in the nation. No individual or firm has helped more veterinarians achieve their dream of ownership or sale. Experience is everything in business. With our extensive knowledge, buyers and sellers can confidently reach for expert advice with a simple call to any one of Simmons’ national offices.

Getting the right price
Working with a Simmons’ expert on pricing can be the most important asset you have when going through the purchase or sale of a practice. With the open market being the best appraiser, our goal is to always match the asking price with what the market ultimately sets. There are many factors that affect price and value. Simmons uses its expert methodology and decades of experience to guide clients through this crucial step of purchasing and selling a practice. We work very hard to ensure pricing is fair to both buyers and sellers.
Blanketing the market
Simmons has 10 regional offices all ready to work for you. We have the ability to blanket the market with our advertising and marketing—something a small regional office simply can’t afford. Our multifaceted advertising and marketing touch every corner of the market.
Simmons has a frequent presence at state, regional, and national meetings with booths to advertise our listed practices. We are also frequent speakers at:
- AVMA
- AAHA
- WVC
- NAVC
- AAEP
When we begin a new listing, we access our extensive national database which quickly puts buyers in touch with sellers. This is especially effective for those that have completed the SIM Roadmap on our website. Our website remains one of our main resources for information. Simmons also advertises regularly in JAVMA, VetEc, DVM and local and state newsletters.
Ensuring confidentiality
Simmons understands the importance of confidentiality. We routinely obtain this level of agreement from buyers and screen them prior to releasing sensitive practice information. Simmons also holds buyer information in confidence—a safety provision in both the buyer’s and seller’s best interest.
Selling a practice on your own might fuel speculation amongst your staff and clients, potentially resulting in an unwanted exodus. In addition, buyers want their confidentiality secured from their current employers when seeking the purchase of a practice.
Making you look good
We know what works and what doesn’t. After taking the SIM Roadmap, a Simmons expert will contact you to discuss the next steps. Through our decades of experience, we know what it takes to succeed. If you are buying a practice, we can assist in interpreting the data. If you are selling, we offer the guidance and leadership necessary to see it through to a successful conclusion.
